Isn't it wonderful that we serve a God that not only cares about the
major things in our lives, but concerns Himself with the small
things?

                       How Much Does God Care?
                         By Nancee Donavan
------------------------------------------------------------
Today was my husband's birthday and I had not made a
cake.  Things had been pretty hectic since we'd just gotten
back from a trip and I had not had time to go out and buy a
gift, if I'd even known what he wanted.  At our exercise class
at the "Y" I asked him in front of the other members there
what his favorite kind of cake was.  He replied, "Chocolate
Mint." I was a bit surprised, as I thought I was the only
"chocoholic" in the family.  Oh, well, we'll see if I can figure
out how to make one of those.

As the day wore on, I found myself at a large supermarket
with a bakery in it. I approached the gal behind the counter
decorating a cake and asked, "Do you have any Chocolate Mint
cakes?"

She looked up with a puzzled expression and said,  "No....but
maybe you could 'special order' one."

I smiled and stated, "That's okay. I was thinking of making
A chocolate cake mix and putting mint flavoring in it."

She replied, "That'd work!"

I continued on my way to buy some ice cream with a coupon
I had and there was a half-gallon of "Mint Chocolate Chip
Ice Cream!"  When I got to the end of that aisle, there was a table
with baked goods on it. I glanced at the top and there
was a cake with a label on it: MINT CHOCOLATE CHIP RING
CAKE.  I was amazed, to say the least! It even had
the store's name, advertising the "Bake Shop."   Now tell me,
how did that cake-decorator not know they had a cake like
that?  Unless.....????

By the way, it was one of the most delicious cakes I have
ever eaten. No, it was not "Angel Food!" Or....was it?

She likes to see these things as "life's little miracles" and not
try to "figure them out." Nancee is a wonderful encourager and
friend.

Oh, what a beautiful place Bird Island must be! I so enjoyed
reading about Loren's peaceful spot away from the hectic life.
Everyone needs a place where "all my cares would melt away and I
felt at peace with the world." Beautiful!

What a wonderful story, Loren! I must agree with an old cliché:
take time to stop and smell the roses. I often sit on my deck in the
mornings watching an listening to all the birds, especially noting
those tiny yet colorful

Thank God for his miracles........he sends so many and so often we
over look them as just luck........but we know the difference don't
we.........children and their protection is one of God's biggest
blessings!!

                         Chocolate Alert!
I know that got your attention!  I am working on a chocolate
cookbook to be given away on Write 2 the Heart's web site.
This work in progress is tentatively called "Write 2 the Heart
of the Chocolate Lover." Anyone who would like to join in the
delicious fun, send a chocolate recipe with a brief bio to be
included after each recipe.  Send as many as you wish.

                           Cheryl's Corner

Yesterday was David's birthday. The kids and I planned a surprise
cookout for him. Tim drove home to be here for this special time.
Jeremy grilled his famous steaks. I made Maria Harden's cake
recipe with a chocolate pudding center. It was wonderful! The only
problem with it was hiding the dark chocolate candy used in it
from my daughter-in-law Nicole.  Even then she found my hiding
spot!

All four grandsons played ball with their uncle Tim. The dog
decided she would play outfield, but if she fielded the ball she
thought she should keep it.

Shhh, don't tell my husband, I have lost a bird in the house.  While
I was running around getting food for the cookout, I found a
sparrow that had been hit by a car. It was unable to fly, but I
thought if it had a quite spot it could mend on its own. When I
brought it home, I dribbled water on its beak, which it seemed to
drink gratefully. I then placed it in a small box. This morning it
was moving much better. I told it I would be back to tend to it after
I cleaned some chicken for supper. It must have been a young bird;
it didn't listen. Now somewhere in my bedroom there is a little
bird hiding from me.

God Bless,
Cheryl
