If we just open our eyes, we will find that we are surrounded by
blessings. While Betty draws our attention to the small blessings
around us, we can't help but see the wonderful blessing of a happy
marriage.

                     God's Greatest Blessings
                           By Betty King
------------------------------------------------------------
Some of God's greatest blessings, pop up before your eyes
and ears, and last for only a moment.

Just yesterday, after my husband came home from work, he
took me out and about to run some errands, seeing as I
don't drive any more; there are a few draw backs in my living
so long with MS. Any way, while we were out, we decided
to stop in at the local Pizza Hut, seeing as they had their
buffet on for the evening. After filling our stomachs to over
flowing, my husband suggested a drive out to the new sports
complex they were building in our little community. So off we
went.

There is no one I would rather be with than my husband. If I
had to spend a year on a deserted island and could only
choose one person to go with me, it would be him. He's the
other side of me. Flip me over and you would see Bill. His
mind goes where my mind is headed and has been where
my mind has gone. Words form in our mouths, syllables
escape from our lips, at precisely the same moment.

We were babies actually, when we married; he was
nineteen, me sixteen. If love happens at first sight, we are
the evidence. We have faltered in our walk through life's
pathways, on occasions, yet it is not the weaknesses, but
the strengths that bind. After forty-five years, our knots are
pretty strong. I'll never forget, the instance I first saw him; we
locked eyes for only a moment. He has been one of God's
greatest blessings to me.

I always wanted four children, for as long as I can
remember. At each of my four doctor's visits to confirm my
pregnancy, he would always say, "Well, you're pregnant."
His words only took a moment to confirm my suspicions, yet
his confirmations were always one of God's greatest blessings. The
moment of birth, when I heard their first cries,
was another blessing that only God can give.

Grandchildren have been my children's greatest gifts to me.
I remember special moments in their lives; a tight hug
around the neck, a giggle, slobbery kisses, a smile that melts
your heart and words expressing their sincere affection.

God's blessings truly do last for only a moment sometime.
 A rainbow, a flash of lighting, a smile from a stranger, a
bumblebee in flight, and a butterfly's flittering wings, are
blessings that last sometimes for only a moment. A
hummingbirds fleeting stop at a flower, a squirrel scurrying
about, and a rabbit's hop through the yard, are all moment
blessings. The song of a bird, the chime of a church bell, the
words, "I missed you," or "I said a prayer for you," is all such
blessings from God to our ears.

Bill and I started out towards the sports complex. We were
enjoying our time together; he showed me the headway they
had made, and filled me in on all the details. After sharing
comments about the construction, I suggested we continue
our drive on down a rural rode we hadn't been on in
sometime. We were just deriving pleasure from our solitude
together, when right before our eyes, a deer jumped out from
an obscured field. Right behind her followed a baby, "Oh -
be careful Bill, there might be more," I cautioned. Bill slowed
to almost a snails pace, and there before us, sprung forth
another of God's creatures, joining its mother and sibling.
With such grace and innocence, they crossed the road.
What a pleasure and a joy, we derived from one of God's
blessings, which lasted for only a moment.

"Goodnight honey, I love you," Bill whispered before falling
asleep that night.

"Goodnight Bill, I love you too,"

God's greatest blessings truly are seen or heard, sometimes
in only a moment.

                     Letters From Our Readers
--------------------------------------------------------------
Hi Cheryl,
I want to thank Bob for his insight on the pennies. When
my boys were young I found them everywhere. I would
sweep them up, and kick them away. Then I got the insight
to save them. What a delight when I cashed my penny jar in
for $63.00.
I enjoyed Bob's idea about The Golden Dollar. Those
pennies form heaven add up! And what a good idea to give
to the church or some other good cause.
And as always, I really enjoy Cheryl's corner!

Hi Cheryl,
About 20 years ago when I was the ripe young
age of 50 or so, my sweet husband decided I
needed a small motor bike to help me tackle the
steep gravel road up to our cabin. We shopped
for it, being sure I could lift it if it happened to
fall on it's side. We went out to some rarely used
blacktop roads near the small airbase in
Ephrata. Well, I was scared to death of that little
motor bike. Our daughters thought it was neat for
their mom to have little wheels. I tried the bike a
few times and decided it wasn't for me. I would
just use the Jeep for that road at the cabin.

We sold the bike, and a few years later we sold
the cabin.

I'm with you Cheryl...ride with him.
God Bless You, Pat

I did enjoy the story about the pennies. It surely will help
me remember from where all of my blessing come.
 God bless you, Blossom

Oh, Cheryl.........motorcycles, hu? Well let me tell you
that learning how to ride a trail or road bike is a ball.
Our kids were brought up on trail bikes here in our
Montana mountains, then.........Ken got a bug about a pair
of Honda Gold Wings. Your hubby would know about
that. We each had a razoo brand new one off the
showroom floor and had a ball after the kids left for
college/marriage/etc. Guess I could write a drillion
stories about our experiences. Lv...Kath

                           Cheryl's Corner

I have decided that today's children are battery operated.
All of their toys run on the little cylinders of energy. When the
batteries are dead, they are at a loss of what to do. We are having a
crisis here, no double A batteries. Four year old Mason doesn't
believe there is life without his Gameboy.

God Bless,
Cheryl
