We have often heard the term "pennies from heaven"; Bob has
taken that a step forward and now collects pennies for heaven. It
all started with a story reminder of our national motto.

                         The Golden Dollar
                             By Bob Shaw
------------------------------------------------------------

A story came to me a while back that has been circulating the
internet for some time. It was a story about a young couple going
out to dinner with his employer. Everything was going well, until
they started going into the restaurant. The older man stopped, and
reached down to pick up a penny lying on the ground. He held it
for a few moments, studying the coin, then with a smile, put it in to
his pocket, and continued on, in to the restaurant.

She wondered why he had stopped and picked up a lowly penny,
and smiled when he pocketed it. Wondering about it through the
meal, she finally mustered up the courage to ask about it.

Smiling, he told her that on every one of our American coins, it has
our National Motto, In God We Trust. When he sees that, he feels
reminded of where he puts his trust, and it gives him a warm
feeling that he is worthy of his Lord's reminder.

I've always heard of the pennies from Heaven that the Angels
throw down for us, to serve as gentle reminders. But until this
story, I always felt it was good luck to find a penny heads up. If it
was heads down, I usually gave it a nudge with my foot and left it
for someone else's good luck. But after the story came to my
attention, I started saving all the coins I found, and put them into a
small bowl, marked Pennies For Heaven.

Some time ago, the Wal-Mart in our area introduced a golden
colored coin, the Sacagewea Dollar, and I thought how appropriate
it would be, to turn all those pennies in for a new Golden Dollar. It
would be a good way to give a little extra to the Church, and it
would be a fun way to recirculate all those pennies back to the
Angels. I've been finding a lot more pennies these days, each one a
little Blessing.

                     Letters From Our Readers
--------------------------------------------------------------
I have to agree with Melva, this has been an unusual winter. It
seemed to have grabbed hold and not want to let go. But isn't it
wonderful that under the snow, new life is preparing to grow. The
winter seasons of my life are just for a time, maybe longer than I
want, but preparing me for new growth.
Janice

NEW LIFE by Melva Cooper was a story I could relate too! I just
didn't think of snow falling so much in Arkansas. In Michigan it
was not wise to plan anything before the first of May...often snow
fell in April and at Easter! But we also knew the beauty of God's
spring was sprouting under the white blankets and dark days, and
soon the sun would bring up the tulips, daffodils and other spring
flowers. What a special time of year! The winters do seem long
Melva, but the spring time is His reward!

                           Cheryl's Corner

It has been like Christmas around here. Nearly everyday packages
come to the door. My husband has discovered the joy of shopping
on Ebay. He is finding all the parts he needs at great prices to fix
his motorcycles. That's right, motorcycles, plural. He found a
smaller one to work on so one of his sons can join him on a ride
sometime. So he says. I think that somewhere in the back of his
mind he thinks I will operate one. The only plans I have for riding
a motorcycle is behind him, while hugging him!

God Bless,
Cheryl
