More Than Conquerors

Are you retreating because it seems to loom so large that is casts shadows on every part of your life? Sometimes we need to be reminded that greater is He within us than he that is in the world. ------------------------------------------------------------ More Than Conquerors! By Lyn Chaffart ------------------------------------------------------------ "No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us." (Rom 8:37) The early morning was so peaceful that I couldn't help but linger a few moments on the back deck. It was the first morning in days without rain. The sky was clear, the air smelled clean, and the early birds' songs shrilled across the rain washed yard. I breathed deeply, wanting to hold onto this moment forever, but knowing deep down that I should be going about my morning chores. Then I saw them. The pair of crows being chased off into the east by a pair of birds about a third their size. I don't know what kind they were, but it wasn't the first time I had seen such a sight. I paused for a moment, marveling at how those tiny birds could so successfully chase off birds so much larger than themselves! As I watched, the crows disappear into the horizon and the smaller pair circled back. As they quietly made their way to their tree, I could sense God's voice, speaking to me through the birds. My Bible tells me that in ALL things I am MORE than a conqueror through Christ who loves me (Rom. 8:37). That means that with Christ on my side, I can conqueror ALL things! Even things that loom up four times as big as me! Even things that everyone says cannot be beaten! In Christ I am MORE than a conqueror in ALL things! Yet despite this Truth, every time "crows" try to invade my nest - addictions, temptations, trials, even tiny, unforeseen changes - my tendency is to give in. After all, how can I fight something as big as THAT temptation? How can I fight an addiction I have struggled with for years? How can I manage to respond to trials differently than my usual pattern of giving up and allowing myself to become discouraged? In essence, I cower at the foot of my problem! But this isn't a fitting response for someone who is MORE than a conqueror in ALL things, is it? Instead, I would do well to take some lessons from that pair of tiny birds! Every time a "Crow" flies into my life, I can simply chase it away in the name of Jesus! Never forget this Truth, my friend! In Christ, you are MORE than a conqueror in ALL things! So the next time that pair of crows tries to invade your nest, stand up in the name of Jesus and chase them off! They WILL flee! "Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he WILL flee from you." How do you keep a dog home that is determined to dig out? Any suggestions? She has nearly an acre to play in, yet when she hears David start his motorcycle or truck she gets excited and digs a new hole under the privacy fence. Why she does this is a mystery, he only tolerates her for my sake. I keep telling David he needs to teach her how to ride with him. Couldn't you just see her sitting on the back of the motorcycle or better yet, in a sidecar just for her.
