The Secret of My No Worry Success By: Gale Stevens -----------------------------------------------------
Want me to tell you how I stopped worrying? Okay, so I haven't completely stopped, but I sure do worry a lot less than I used to. If a lot less worrying sounds good to you, keep reading. I am about to tell you how I did it. First, I have to tell you this. I read some very important words in a book one time. Oh my, how those words made me angry at first. I spent three days being angry over printed words. The words were these:
If you are worrying, you are not trusting God. If you are trusting God, you are not worrying.
How dare they tell me that because I was worrying that my faith wasn't as strong as it should be. They didn't know me. They had no idea of all the things going wrong in my life at that time. I mean, any sane person living my life would have worried. Right? Wrong. That is not what God teaches us. It was just that somehow in the turmoil that was my life, I had forgotten that. It took me a few days of being very angry to realize that, though. I was quite offended by these people that questioned my faith.
God teaches us that He will care for us. Matthew 6:26 Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? 27 who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life? 34 Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.
Too many times we as humans get wrapped up in "what ifs" and "might's". What if I can't pay the house note? We might have to live on the street. But does not God tell us that we will be provided for? Does not He tell us to live in today and not take on tomorrow’s troubles too early? How do we even know if the troubles we fear will come to be? We don't, but God does.
I made a deal with myself that I would really try not to worry. Every time I started to worry I would say to myself, "No, that is God's to worry about. I will leave it to Him." This was not always easy. Especially when the trials of my life were at their worst. When I first started practicing my "worry free-ness", I often had to work with 5-minute spans of time. I would say, "For the next 5 minutes, I will not worry about this. I will let God handle it for the next 5 minutes." Yes, I did time it. There were times when the 5 minutes seemed to pass very slowly.
When the 5 minutes were up. I would think, that wasn't so bad. I can go 5 more minutes. I do not remember how long it took me to stop watching the clock. I do remember that one day I said I would not worry for the next 5 minutes and I didn't. Then when I finally did look at the clock; it had been 30 minutes. I know that to many this might not seem like much progress. To me, it was such a relief.
As I have continued to practice over the years, I have gotten better and better at letting God handle the worrisome stuff. Now, there are actually weeks at a time that I do not worry at all. The other thing that has happened as I practice this, is that my faith in God has grown and strengthened. I have let Him handle the worrisome stuff and time and time again, He has provided for me. I have not had any of those awful, terrible things I feared happen to me. It turns out that God is really good at taking care of the worrisome stuff. He does a much better job of taking care of those things than I could ever do.
The greatest gift I have gotten from all this practice is serenity. God had sustained me, provided for me, and often carried me. He also has done most of my worrying for me so that I don't have to. You can not believe how much easier it is now that I let God do the worrying.
The words that I read back then, no longer make me angry. Now, I see those words as a blessing. They were exactly what I needed to see at exactly the time I needed to see them. I do not believe that that was a coincidence. I believe it was, once again, God doing a much better job of providing for my needs than I could ever do myself.
Now, I have let you in on my secret for not worrying. I hope you will try it. I also hope it brings you the serenity that it has brought to me. They say that all that is worth having is worth working for. Serenity is most definitely worth having.

------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------ Seek His Face By: Pat Bode ------------------------------------------------------------ We’re all given paths to take And along the way we make mistakes. It’s never to late to turn around, We have to keep fighting and stand our ground. It’s time again to seek GOD’S face, It’s time to ask for His Holy Grace. Whatever decisions you have to make, Seek God for heaven’s sake. At work, at school, or at play, Whenever obstacles come your way. Seek His face and you cannot go wrong. For our Lord Jesus is powerful and strong. All you have to do is seek Him and ask, For He’s in control and knows your task. Seek His face in everything you do; Seek His face and be faithful and true. So when that decision comes along your way, Seek His face and never forget to pray. Peace will come over you, and the answer you’ll see, By seeking His face, you know it comes for thee.
