In today’s world, there are many possible dangers on the World
Wide Web. Yet, there’s the joy of finding wonderful and lasting
friendships.

                         My friend Pamela
                           By Deb Davidson

For the past two years I have experienced a friendship with a
dear lady called Pamela who lives in Oklahoma in the United
States, I live in Brisbane Australia. Let me tell you about Pamela.
We met through an email she sent me in response to a short story I
had posted on a Writer's site.

Our first emails were tentative as I guess we both knew of the
dangers of meeting people on the Internet. As our friendship
progressed we eventually sent pictures of our families and
ourselves. Pamela, sharing of her life in Oklahoma in the United
States and me extolling the joys of living in this wonderful country
called Australia.

Stories and questions went flying back and forth as we learnt
more about each other and our lives in these different parts of the
world At Christmas time we send parcels to each other laden with
goodies. Mine included the inevitable Steve Irwin article and
books about the Outback and Australian animals. The parcels from
the States included cookbooks, fridge magnets, and magazines on
Oklahoma.

Deeper into our friendship we discovered we had both had
"interesting" backgrounds, were the same age and struggled with
depression. We also learnt that we have both been married only
once to the same man and held family life dear.

To date we have spoken once or twice on the phone and have
never met. And yet my friendship with Pamela is deeper than that
of people I know close by. E Cards, emails, and sometimes long
letters make up all the communication we have across the miles. It
is my hope that one day soon we will meet and I will catch up on
those hugs and cups of coffee that we joke about having together.
Crikey! You just never know what's around the corner.

When the first of my four sons left home for college or training
for the armed forces, I proudly pressed a calling card into their
hands to encourage them to call home. Unfortunately, when my
telephone bill came in, I found they had called every acquaintance
they knew… but not me! I finally wised up and got an 800 number
from PowerNet Global through Cognigen. There is no monthly fee
for the service, I only pay for the actual calls each month. They
also offer long distance and many other telecommunication
products. You can make a free comparison of your currant long
distance rates with theirs at http://ld.net/?cbspeir.

                     Letters From Our Readers

Hi, Cheryl. Thanks so much for sending "The Watch and the
Angel (Time to Heal)" by Ellie Braun-Haley. I enjoyed the
touching tribute to her son, the testimony of God's healing during
her time of grief.

Ellie’s story was so sad. I admire her for her frankness. Even as
she shared her heartache and her problems with stress, I could feel
that here is a woman of faith. May she always be in God’s care.

                           Cheryl’s Corner

Goodness! I have more ‘news’ than this small column could
hold. So let me just hit a few highlights.

First, if you have a loved or friend one mentioned in our prayer
list, if you have authored a book or are included in an anthology
collection, please see the notice at the beginning of t oday’sezine.

Sunday, Tim was anointed with oil and prayer for his safety. It
was such a moving service. As Kristen stood at his side, Brother
Dale spoke Psalms 139 over his life. This blessed me so much;
these were the very words that God had placed in my heart when
Tim had told us he was going to Iraq. Then Brother Mike taught on
‘No Fear.’ The whole service went hand in hand and seemed tailor
made for my family. Tim leaves this Saturday for training.

Our daughter-in-law to be, Kristen, was thrown from a horse
and broke her wrist. Is she planning to give up riding? Not hardly.
My kind of girl!

God Bless,
Cheryl
