                            Trucker Talk
                            By Ron Reese

Recently, I dreamed I was driving a big ole semi rig down the
interstate, which is very interesting because the only truck I have
ever driven in my life was a dump truck for the 4 a.m.- 12 o’clock
noon shift at the Harris Pine Mills in Lincoln.  But, there I was in my
dream traveling down some desolate piece of interstate that looked
like central Nevada in an ‘18-wheeler’.

All around me was the barrenness of the wasteland as far as
the eye could see.  I remember feeling lonely so I tried to talk to
someone on my C.B.

     Me, “Breaker 1-9.  Breaker 1-9.”

I didn’t hear anyone, so I drove on down the road.  Again, I
tried reaching somebody, anybody over my C.B. radio.

     Me, “Breaker 1-9.  Breaker 1-9.”

“Boy, this sure is the loneliest stretch of highway I’ve ever
traveled,” I said aloud.

     Me, “Breaker 1-9...oh, well...”

A Voice, “Go break,” spoke an extremely clear voice.”

Me, “What...hey good buddy!  Good to hear someone out here
on this lonely interstate.  Hey, what’s your 20?   I can see probably
five miles out my back door and a mile or two up front, but you’re
coming in ‘wall-to-wall and treetop-tall’!”

A Voice, “I’m right with you.  I will never leave you, nor forsake
you.”

Me, “Uh, yeah...right.  Say, I call myself ‘Life Drifter’.  What’s
your handle?”

A Voice, “Big Guy in the sky.”

Me, “Oh yeah, tall dude eh?  You got family?”

A Voice, “The human family.  By the way Ron, how’s Sylvia and
the kids?”

Me, “Oh, they’re fine.  Hey...how did you know my name? ...Come
to think of it, how did you my wife’s name is Sylvia?”

A Voice, “And how did I know your kids’ names are Naomi,
Nathanael, and Matthew?  Oh and your dogs’ names are Shep and
Brutus.”

     Me, “Yeah, how in the...”

A Voice, “Oh, by the way, Sylvia told me to look out after you
going over Dead Man’s Pass.”

Me, “Dead Man’s Pass?  Well, hey that was 20 miles back.  You
don’t have to worry about that.”

A Voice, “Not now.  But I did then.  By the way, get your air
brakes checked at the next stop.”

Me, “Wait a minute.  You know me.  You know my wife.  You
know my kids. You know my dogs.  And you even know my brakes
weren’t so good coming down from the pass.  The next thing you’re
going to tell me is that you are God.”

     A Voice, “I’m God.”

Me, “Sheesh, I kind of thought you might be getting to that!”

A Voice, “Hey Ron, I’ve got to go.  Next time you need to talk to
me, you don’t have to use your C.B.”

     Me, “I don’t?”

A Voice, “No.  Try praying.  There’s always a clear channel.”

I’ll have to admit, like most of my dreams, this one was kind
of wild. But, maybe it did have some element of truth in it.  You see,
God does know all about us.  Luke 12:7 says that even the hairs of
our head are numbered.

In John 21:17 we read that the Lord knows all things.  That
concept is reiterated in 1John 3:20.  In Hebrews, Paul states, “All
things are naked and open unto his eyes.”  And not only does God
know everything about us right now, but as he pointed out to
Jeremiah, “Before I formed thee in the belly, I knew thee.”
(Jeremiah 1:5)

And the most awesome thing about this is in spite of all God
knows about us, he still loves us!           And because God loves us, He
answers all our prayers.  Matthew 7:7-11 says:  Ask, and it shall be
given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened
unto you: For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh
findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened. Or what man is
there of you, whom if his son ask bread, will he give him a stone?
Or if he ask a fish, will he give him a serpent? If ye then, being evil,
know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more
shall your Father which is in heaven give good things to them that
ask him?

So, though we don’t talk to God over a telephone, nor over a
citizen’s band radio, yet still, we are able to communicate to our
Heavenly Father through the avenue of prayer.  And He in turn
speaks to us.  No, he doesn’t use a cell phone, nor a C.B.  He
makes connections with us through His Word, through His creation,
through others, and sometimes even through that still small voice,
the Holy Spirit.

                            Cheryl’s Corner

Cornish hens are not something I cook everyday. I remember
why now. I roasted two in my small rotisserie, cut them in half, and
served them on a platter.

Hubby and son started making fun of my special meal.

“You call that a main coarse?” my husband, David, asked.
“There’s not enough on that plate to feed all of us.  Since when did
you start cooking sparrows?”

“Sparrows,” Jeremy snorted, “those are hummingbirds!”

Hummingbirds! I can’t believe all my hard work went so
unappreciated. Unique entrees are wasted on my guys.

God bless,
Cheryl
