Her granddaughter knows this and she's only nine! ------------------------------------------------------------ A New Video Camera By Melva Cooper ------------------------------------------------------------ It was another snow day from school for the grandchildren. Winter had been quite different in our part of the country this year. The soft, gentle rain that is most often our cold season had turned to many inches of beautiful white snow.
One-time, throw-away and digital cameras were busy clicking around our house as wave after wave of sparkling snow descended upon us. It was as if our eyes could not behold all of the beauty, and we needed to seize, for future viewing, the lovely, unfamiliar scenes that were being played out before us.
To capture some of the beauty our daughter decided to invest in a new video camera. Her girls really wanted one. And she had been assuring them that someday she would get around to replacing their broken camera. So, when about the fifth winter storm appeared to be at our doorstep, she gathered the girls up and off they went to make that long promised purchase.
Nine-year old Mary Kathryn loved it! She carried it around with her all day. Clicking away. Sometimes it would be aimed at the trees, so magnificent looking with limbs leaning precariously from the weight of heavy snow. More often than once, Mary Kathryn had the camera in the face of her sister or young cousin's who were spending the day with us.
I was busy at the computer. Composing some of the stories that my four grandchildren have given me over the years.
"Grandma, look!" it was Mary Kathryn with that new video camera turned towards me.
"This is my grandma, doing what she does every day," Mary Kathryn began her dialogue. "She is a writer for the Lord," I heard her say as the camera stayed pointed my way. In her quiet unassuming voice she continued her byline, "She wants to make Jesus famous." Then only as a granddaughter would say about her grandmother she loves so much, Mary Kathryn's next words were, "And she probably will".
Then just as if she hadn't spent those minutes on her grandmother, Mary Kathryn suddenly turned the camera and her story telling to another object and subject.
I rejoiced!
That short one-sided conversation ministered to this grandmother whose longing is to glorify God with my writings. For my young granddaughter to discern that was a delight. May others, young and elderly alike, understand how much I desire to help make Jesus known around the world. Encourage many souls as they read the stories of my heart, produced mostly from the mouths of my babes - four precious grandchildren.

-------------------------------------------------------------- -------------------------------------------------------------- Letters From Our Readers -------------------------------------------------------------- This is a wonderful outlook on what's going on in the world today. I plan to print it out for my mother who keeps saying, "It's the END of the World!!" (It may BE, but folks have been saying that for umteen generations and it hasn't happened yet. I know; I know; that just means we're that much CLOSER!!) I do believe God has a plan for this world and it's not for us to know His mysteries. I can't help but wonder what generation He would not love so much as to destroy them instead of US. I'm sure it could happen, as it did in Noah's time. That's why we should be prepared and ready for the END of "time."
I really like this viewpoint of yours, Lyn. What a good illustration!! Thanks. Nancee Donovan
Hi Cheryl, I loved Lyn's story on Chaos. We live in troubled and chaotic times. Our daily lives get troubled and chaotic. Lyn's story is a reminder that there is 'One' greater than us who has a plan amidst our chaos. Lyn, thanks for sharing your story. Annettee Budzban
Cheryl, What a day for this story to be published! Sounds likes God's timing to me. We needed to be reminded that HE is still on top of all this chaos today. With suicide bombings in Iraq and Israel within hours of each other, it is good to know that God is still in control! Thanks, Melva
--------------------------------------------------------------- Military Prayer Reminder --------------------------------------------------------------- As you read over this list of names, please take that moment to pray for these young people and their families:
Chris Speir Tim Speir Alan Thaddeaus Howard Todd Holland Graham William Julie Sagel Jessie Marshal Thompson Jason Eric Hernandez Kristin Danielson Ken Prieur Ryan
Please continue to pray for our country, our leaders, and our troops at this time.
If you have loved ones in the military, or who are being called to go overseas, send their names (first and last or first only) to be included in our prayer reminder. --------------------------------------------------------------- Cheryl's Corner I sure hope everyone has their anti-virus up to date! Yesterday was wild. The Sobig worm tried to reach me nearly two dozen times. It sure is a good thing that not only do I keep my anti-virus up to date, but I also configured my email program to delete anything with attachments or was over 80k. So if you tried to send me a story in an attachment, you will have to resend keeping it in the body of an email.
I thought I had it bad. One person told me they bombarded with it over 65 times in one hour!
On a tastier note, now that my playmates are back in school, I am able to continue work on the chocolate cookbook. I am including a lot of my favorites. So if you did not get a recipe in to me, now would be the time. Make sure you include a bio about yourself for the contributor section.
