Therefore, since we have so great a cloud of witnesses surrounding
us, let us also lay aside every encumbrance, and the sin which
easily entangles us, and let us run with endurance the race that is
set before us. Hebrews 12:1

                         Winning the Race
                         By Angela Walker

As I stood there with tears streaming down my face, I realized
how incredibly blessed I am, and said a silent prayer to my Father
in heaven. My niece Kara, who has Down syndrome, was
participating in her first track meet for children with special needs.

Coming around the track were four special needs children who
did not care if they won, but just wanted to finish the race. Adults
had to help a couple of the students finish the race. We were
screaming loudly in the stands, because we to, were so happy to
see them cross that finish line.

Kara did win a 1st place ribbon in the softball throw and a 3rd
place ribbon in the 50-yard dash. Truthfully, I don’t think she even
realizes what place they were, she was just SO happy to be there
and participating and get a ribbon. She had a wonderful time and
felt like she was the most important person in the world. All the
participants received a ribbon when they crossed the finish line.

I wish that we all could go through life with the eyes of a
special needs person. You see, they don’t care what place they
come in, they just want to finish the race. We worry about being
the top employee, being the smartest person in school, the fastest
pitcher etc., and we put to much emphasis on that, at least I do.

When my life is over, I want to have lived it as Kara does
today. I just want to be able to say I enjoyed the race even though
I did not win at everything I did. Kara is the most amazing, loving,
giving person I know and I am blessed to have her in my life.

Write 2 the Heart now has an affiliate program with Cognigen.
They have several long distance plans to chose from; I personally
use the PowerNet Global 4.5¢ Per Minute Plan. I love having my
own toll free number for my family to be able to call home when
they are out of town. I have used it more times than I care to
remember over the last three years in emergency situations.
Cognigen has more than just great long distance rates; they have
calling cards, internet access, web hosting services and much more.
You can check out all of their telecommunication products and
services at http://ld.net/?cbspeir.

                     Letters From Our Readers

I’m so glad everything turned out well for Lyn. It is a miracle
that she retrieved her card at all. These days you can’t be too
careful. I think everyone knows someone who lost their purse or
wallet and had all kinds of problems afterwards.

                           Cheryl’s Corner

I will be adding more affiliate programs to Write 2 the Heart.
I don’t want to get involved with just any program; I want to know
they have value and are honest, like the Cognigen plan that I have
used and tested for three years before offering it in Write 2 the
Heart. My goal is to use the income from these programs to turn
Write 2 the Heart into a true paying market! So from time to time,
please check out the links as they are added. Doing so will help
make this dream come true.

May God bless you abundantly!
Cheryl
